I wonder if people hundreds of years ago could stand each other or if this is a symptom of modern industrialized society.

speaking of commuting, i truly believe that being in cars brings out the very worst in otherwise rational people. if everyone was able to get around by walking or biking with the ability to look their fellow citizens in the eye as they got around... the world would be so much better off.
if someone was walking slowly in front of you, you would kindly step over to pass them and maybe even say hello. but in your car you get pissed the fuck off and flip them the bird as you drive by.

Good point. I think that the way you drive is a really strong expression of how you view yourself in relation to others. A lot of people drive really selfishly. Almost as if - I don't care if you die as long as I get where I'm going when i want to. I see a lot of stupidity on the road too. I wonder if these people are even smart enough to be driving.

My nerve with people lasts about as long as a sowing needle. After that I stab them in the eye with it.

Other than just driving though - it seems like social skills are rapidly declining. I find that people avoid eye contact with stangers. Even at work it looks as if it pains most people to even say hello.
I sense a lot of self-centered thought behavior. As in I need to do something and everyone else is just in my way. It seems like noone could care less about anyone who isn't directly related.
Probably just symptoms of modern society I guess.

I do like nice or interesting people and have been many times amazed by what some people are capable of.
Although, would it be wrong of me to assume that the average citizen is a dullard with not much in the way of hobbies or intellectual thought?

i gotta read 10 books to find a 1 really good one. i think its true with people. for every one amazing person you gotta deal with 30 jckasses. i think its worth it.

A friend of mine always had a theory.
He thought the amount of consideration any individual had was a finite amount. Now depending on how many people you may see in a day depends on how this finite amount of consideration is devided. The more people the less consideration per person.
He by this theory always prefered smaller towns and thought they were far more friendly. Simple and perhaps quite truthful theory.

I like to ignore the ones craving the most attention, and leave all others alone.
I'm indifferent to most people and I just want to be left alone, I think it's important to acknowledge the fact that EVERYONE makes a snap judgment on whether or not they like the people they see in their day to day lives.
So what do you base your opinion on? Clothes? Fitness? Wealth? What's better or worse? WHY WHY WHY?
