it didnt say "don't get paid at all"
Everyone has trouble getting paid. Thats business. Its just a misleading headline for us to read.

^ Better?
"More than 40% of contract workers report trouble getting paid. Average owed: $12K"

I always put "PAYMENT DUE IN 30 DAYS AFTER INVOICE DATE" on every invoice and I still have some trouble.
- does that work completely? or do you still see a good portion of clients behind payment?zenmasterfoo
- akrok0
i hate that, cause when the client do not pay on time. it effects everything.
also, if you do a job for a client who's not that stable (financial), yeah they might be gone tomorrow etc. or own a lot of other freelancers. so, know who you deal with is kinda 101.
- that said. there plenty of "We make huge profits" and still don't pay you on time.akrok

I thought it would be higher,
anyways, I'm part of the group, my main client owes me quite a bit.
still two days to go and I'll know if he transfered the money

Had to sue a client to get 7K. Took 2 years, but I did eventually get paid.

I am going to say that some clients hire freelancers with the intention of never paying. They know they don't have the resources to go after them. It's shitty buy true. Just try to be as careful as you can.

I deal with this with EVERY one of my clients, except one (I work with all ad agencies except one direct client). They always pay me a couple of weeks late but they always pay me. I don't push my big clients too much cause I'm busy trying to make their jobs easier. It kind of sucks but I deal with it. For the most part, it's typically the finance dept and them seeing how long they can get away with paying late, especially towards end of year.
I've had smaller agencies / boutique shops continually pay me late (some months late) and then I've suddenly become booked all of the time ...which is too bad because I've really liked working with a few of them.
That's just how business works I guess. Getting paid is a project by itself sometimes.

client owes me $400 for what should have been $1000 had i not been nice.
