Who rides one? Looking to make the switch and thinking about going with a Niner MCR9 frame.
How do you like yours compared to a 26er?

its like driving a monster truck. you can roll over anything!

I just rode my friends EMD 9 over the weekend. The difference is unreal. Not only can you roll over just about anything, it seemed to be a better climber. I'm now looking to pick one up myself.

Banshee Paradox 29er. Best 29er hardtail out there. The chainstay is shorter than normal (17in). Short, compact and quick handling.

this video is pretty stupid but the do show that they are slower than a regular mt bike.

I've got the Niner s.i.r 9 - love it for riding out here. I've got WTB 2.3 inch tires on it too. Overall it's a bit heavy, and I'd definitely get another Niner (just not the steel)
Downhills it feels like it picks up speed and does really well over rock fields (grapefruit sized). Rolls through the sandy spots a lot better than my 26.

I ride way more in all-mountain type terrain than firetrails. Lots of steep climbs, big rocks & roots. Do you think It would be too sluggish?
I ride a 26er Carbon hardtail at the moment that I'm liking, but its definitely hard on the you know what. Thinking about a FS setup also...

Do you have any local shops that carry them? The guys out here practically let me demo mine, and it sounds like you are close to the fs vs. hardtail (weight/comfort/quickness debate).
your terrain sounds similar to here--I've never felt it was sluggish and personally I think it climbs really quick. If you build the SIR 9 from scratch, you can get lighter weight tires/wheels. But if you're already on a carbon hardtail, I'm not sure a steel hardtail is going to quiet things down enough.
ditto what cerebus posted mtbr forums are the books of the bible

cerberus - i'm leaning towards the paradox, but the geometry seems more of an AM bike, how do you climbing on regular road?
- cerberus0
I just got back from a trip about a month ago with that bike. I loved it. Everything about the bike feels good. How it feels in the cockpit, the geometry is nice and the handling is great. And we were riding single track stuff that was pretty hairy. That bike owned all of it.
Are you building one out yourself or ordering their kit? Also, check out the Banshee thread over at mtbr. http://forums.mtbr.com/forumdisp…
- Nice, I'll be buying the frame and building up with pieces from my 26ernon
