Or just keep talking like the Kool-Aid man.... she'll never come near you again.

why don't you go over her desk and start copying by her side what she's doing, after she copied you...
- um, perhaps because she has way less ideas than me...robotron3k
- you copy her in the same work she copied you, that's what I mean...oey
- that's why you should do it! that way you will confuse her...you can even say you ran out of ideas...oey

is it really a problem if someone likes your work and is inspired by it? what exactly are you worried about?
she obviously does it cos you're the better designer, and she won't suddenly become better than you by copying a few of your styles and elements.
Let it happen, let her learn from you. Everything you've learned is from other designers.
- It's a problem because 10 million people in the US are out of work and she calls herself a CD.jteore

Maybe he's afraid that some day they will criticize her and she turns around and says: "You have to blame my mentor, everything I've learned was with him!"
That's scary dude...

make sure you get to present your comp before her.

Start off by being polite: "I'd rather not show you work that I haven't finished and fully thought through... let me get my design to a more complete stage and I'll be more comfortable showing you".
If this doesn't send her on her way say "you keep interupting my train of thought every time you look over my shoulder, I'll let you know when I'm ready to show something".
If she still doesn't get the hint just hide your work when she walks up, then turn to her and say "can I help you with something?"
Good luck.

by the way, you should tell her. that is to similar to mine look. you better switch/change some stuff. we need to have two different looks.

lol. i have a similar problem here. we'll work on comps and i'm really good about showing my work early and often. if we're showing three, every time we have an internal review we'll post em up and the other two designs have my navigation, or my icons, or my layout just with some different color scheme or typography. then because i'm the sr. i get yelled at because there isn't enough differentiation between the work. so i stopped pushing my work up to the shared server and it's somewhat solved the problem.
to solve your problem if you're on a mac and you see her walking by, hit fn - F11 and hide your screen. at my last job that was the running joke between my CD and i... he and i would be discussing a design and sales or PM would walk by and he'd say "dude f11" so they wouldn't try and give their 2c mid process.
- good one. i'm trying to do a fake bad design but it's coming out pretty good... pfft!robotron3k
