So has anyone ever "crowdsourced" before? Cmon I won't tell anyone..
- If you can keep a secret..Miguex
- I'm trying to crowdsource my next home.Miguex
- yeah, when I was freelancing a few years ago I entered into a couple of competitions.monospaced
- I won one of them. Made $500 in a day. I guess the other two I didn't get paid though.monospaced

I know Miguex, BUT this guy is very cynical about this and THAT pisses me off. When some douchebag thinks he's smart enough to bullshit people and recycle a business model as low and degrading as this one, I do have to blame him and in some weird way, hate.
Why? Because these type of idiots are the reason why I have to fight and spend an extra hour sometimes, explaining my freelance clients what these companies really do, how it is NOT a good resource for them, etc... I can't feel sympathy for this guy, sorry.
And I think I already explained how I feel about the """journalist""" and why.

That's just silly. With this guy's model you only get the first 3 of like 10 levels that are available - and that's only on the most basic level. The reason why you pay less is because you get less:
computer 101*
photoshop 101 *
laying stuff out on the page 101*
typography 101
color theory 101
composition 101
communication 101
(a few more 101s i can't think of)
design 101

I signed up for Arteis before. I never attempted to work on any of the projects but it was interesting to look at their process. They did, at the time, have some talented people working for them BUT they were people that had regular jobs. I think the good designers were mostly bored and could easily do some mindless work in their free time and make some money. I don't think they realize, or care about how this damages our profession.

I've come across designers who believe that this is the future of the profession but they've never been able to explain how this will make things better. One argument is that increased competition will allow the best work to rise to the top. Yeah, we all know that the best work is always chosen by the client.

but, i am only doing...this and that. they always have excuses. also, that it won't hurt you. fuck that, it does. i live here! and so do they.
- talking to them, is like having a conservation with a wall.akrokdesign
