Le chien qui fume (next to Les Halles): great seafood and also the rest is excellent
Also: the market across the street from Palais de Tokyo every Wednesday i think, has amazing food
And then some 100.000 small restaurants outside of the touristy areas.

So let me get it straight, if the same question popped up about NYC, the thread would have 50 responses with specific names, links and addresses to restaurants, but in Paris i get a link to a fast food joint and a pic of a baguette???

Get this straight; asking for good, inexpensive food in Paris is like asking for beer in Prague, hipsters in Berlin, hash in Amsterdam or fish and chips in Whitby. It's there. Go and explore.

A little list then...
Avoid by all means all restaurants in Montmartre/Sacré Cœur and all touristic areas.
Bofinger (French traditional bistro cuisine)
5-7 rue de la Bastille
75004 ParisPaninoteca da Carmine (Italian food)
61 rue des Martyrs
75009 PARISRose Bakery (organic food, great for Sunday brunch)
46 rue des Martyrs
75009 ParisCafé de l'Industrie (French bistro, very nice decorum)
17 Rue St Sabin
75011 ParisTokyo Eat / Palais de Tokyo restaurant (fusion cuisine, amazing location+decoration)
13 avenue du Président Wilson
75016 ParisLe Felteu (a very very unusual place in Paris, traditional French country cuisine at reasonable prices. Don't go there for the service, but their food is good AND affordable).
15 Rue Pecquay
75004 ParisFYI, terminal numbers in 750XX Paris refer to the number of the arrondissement (district).

- Aux Fins Gourmets (213 Blvd. St Germain, 7th arrondissement, +33 1 42 22 06 57). A very cozy, old world bistro - wonderful cassoulet, well-priced for really authentic food.
- Le Cambodge (10 Avenue Richerand, 10th arrondissement, 01 44 84 37 70) Incredible Cambodian food, but with a long wait and crowded, although very cheap. Right by the beautiful Canals St Martin. If the wait is very long, head across the street to Chez Prune for a glass of wine and some cheese.
- L'Avant Gout (26, rue Bobillot, 13th arrondissement, 01 53 80 24 00). Great little spot, perfect for a long lunch.
- Chez Omar (47, rue de Bretagne, 3rd arrondissement, 01 42 72 36 26). You may have to wait long but it's worth it if you ike Moroccan food. Incredible couscous and tagines.
- L'Epi Dupin (11, rue Dupin, 6th arrondissement, 00 33 1 42 22 64 56). Delicious prix fixe menu - well-priced for a creative take on French food in a very rustic setting.
- L'Homme Tranquille (81, rue Martyrs, 18th arrondissement, +33 1 42 54 5628). If you're in Montmartre

Oh yeah, one of my favourite places is Café Charbon:
http://www.timeout.com/paris/par…They do flawless cocktails and great traditional French food. Go there for happy hour and sit outside. The restaurant accross the road (Chez Justine) is pretty good too.
