Fucking Amazing Film. New steps have just been taken in film making.

@linearch
"Our main character gets shot in a drug bust and dies less than a third of the way through the movie. But that’s not the spoiler. The spoiler is that an instant later, he comes back—not his body, but his soul or spirit. And the rest of Enter the Void will be about his soul’s journey toward the next stage of existence."
Interestingly, Noe has taken it upon himself to make it very clear that that is NOT what is happening in the film. Instead, he says its simply the mental trip the person goes through after being shot while on DMT (notice how the conversation between the main character and his friend sort of alludes to that as well).
- He even suggests (SPOILER) >********
- that the main character may still be alive at the end of the film********

Ok cinematography and vfx were excellent .. But come on, the movie went on waaaay too long.. After a while the camera flying over the city bored me to death. Just way too repetitive. I suppose that's ok for some of you who were most certainly High as Shit while watching this.
Favorite part was being inside the vagge, quite a nice new perspective I must say..
- DaveO0
Nah, wasn't on DMT. I think it's important to look at movies like this for what they are, which is an experiment, or expression of an idea. It was long, yes, but there wasn't a second of it where i wasn't completely fascinated with how he was making the picture.

Agreed this movie is WAY TOO FUCKING LONG.
It should have been about 30-45 minutes. All the transition scenes and ceiling POV was self indulgent and gratuitous.
After watching, my girl said "I hate that movie. If that movie were a person I would fight it...for wasting my fucking time."

haahaha sublocked, high five @ your girl!
i saw it last week and was immediately sucked into it, eye candy for sure. love the first person perspective, always a fave in film school.
but definitely not a favorite, totally fucked with my brain.

I thought it got the balance about right. It promised a visual trip and delivered on that. Plenty of Hollywood movies out there with neat, predictable endings, so I didn't mind the rambling nature of this one.

The penis inside the vagina shot was a trip

I think that ANYTHING with a level of art to it is inherently self indulgent. His movies aren't ever going to follow your usual formula of 'what a film should be' or 'how long a film should last'.
Just goes to shoe how myopic people can be when it comes to the arts in general.
- it went from self indulgent to a big "FU" to the audience pretty quickly i think.sublocked

I would have preferred seeing this film edited down to about an hour

Watched this last night and it was really good. I felt like I was tripping. I ended up talking about it all night with friends and telling them to view it.
two thumbs up from Capn and Ron.
