I have a flash video project that uses an XML file to call in certain flv files to play in a video carousel type thing.
It's being built/updated by a vendor and when I send them new videos to upload, I am not seeing the most current videos, the old ones are still loading.
I've cleared cache and history in browsers and still no luck.
Does anyone have a clue how to do some kind of a force refresh so all new content will always show?
Or any other solutions to ensure old cached videos won't play??? thnx

are you swapping videos with the same names, or are you updating the xml file to point to different filenames?

you can also do this on the server side by properly configuring cache headers...

We were keeping the filenames the same, then we realized the problem and started changing the names to see if that would fix it.
I will send this link above over to vendor. Thanks!

Something we would often do is create a cache buster. By dynamically generating and appending a random string to a file name, it forces the server to always download the most recent version of that file (because it think its downloading a file with a different name). Works great when we overwrite file names a lot.

Thanks for the help with this. I know next to nothing about XML and what the issue is here. I'm basically passing along your good ideas to our vendor and I think we're making some progress. So yeah...thanks alot.
Plus I really dig the term "Cache Buster". Who you gonna call?
