it's been talked to death...but i would still like some input if you can spare a moment.
i'm looking to get a 15 macbook pro. i've bought refurbs before and had good luck, so i'm probably going to stick with that route. so the question is, should i go for a lower speed i5 or a higher speed core duo? so what about the graphics card?
thoughts? suggestions?

(Core 2 Duo)

i guess i am trying to figure out how much cash i need to spend to actually see a performance difference. i currently share a 2.4 duo with the wife and it's great, but was wondering if the new processor/graphics card is noticably faster or not.

Might as well go with the i chips since Apple's pretty much phasing out the Core chips altogether. Best to get on the curve while you can.

I have a new macbook 15" i7. It is so so much faster than my old one. I would recommend getting a fast 15" for like $2500. If you use it as much as me, it will pay for it self.

The i5 and i7 processors are noticeably faster with basic processes than the older intel duo's. As long as you're not doing anything processor intensive like 3D you should be good. Regarding the graphics card get the best one you can if you are expecting to do video work on it. If you need to do After Effects and 3D for work I'd suggest an i5/i7 macbook pro along with an 8-12 core tower for the heavy lifting.

Im looking into a macbook pro as well. why you going with the 15 over the 17? Seems like it would be difficult to work on a 15in screen.
Are you going anitglare? new screens look nice but the reflections are pretty heavy.

You might not even notice the marginal speed increases if you go expensive. I would spend any extra $ on a bigger HD and max out the RAM.

the 17 is just too big to carry around in my opinion. my machine currently has the glossy screen, and i don't mind it, so i will probably stick with the same (doesn't antiglare cost $100 more?)
