I've skied my whole life. Parents threw me on skis when I was 3 years old. I've snowboarded maybe 10 times, but always had fun.
Don't know what it is, but here it is 37 years later and thinking I may hang up the skis for good and finally learn how to snowboard fo' realz. Been getting pumped for it too. Can't stop watching snowboarding videos.
I just started my 6 year-old skiing a couple of years ago, and my 4 year-old last season. Thinking they've probably ridden their last set of skis too.
Oh man. What have I gotten myself into? I'm gonna be a beginner all over again. No steeps, no deep, no big airs. Just knuckle draggin' with the kids on the bunny slopes.
Any others out there that stopped skiing after many years to snowboard?

But if you really enjoy skiing why would you want to stop? Just 'cos others 'board, doesn't mean you have to follow.

No but I'm ready for winter too.

I gave up on the two planks years ago. It's the way to go for sure. Last year on a cat skiing trip I ran into a 60 year old Swede who just took snowboarding up and vowed he'd never go back to skiing. It's a different ride for sure.. just learn to avoid the flats as you'll be walking your ass a lot. Good luck!

I grew up skiing too, but learning to snowboard wasn't that difficult as I already knew how to surf and skateboard. I couldn't give up any one thing for another, they're different experiences.
- i've got the basics down. I think the years of skiing and some skateboarding helped learn fast.fugged

Because it looks fucking fun. :) I could care less what other people are doing. Fuck that. I just want something new.
I guess when you aren't religious in the slightest, and skiing has been your religion your whole life - this is like being born again :) haha.

I hate the snow, the cold. If i never see another snow flake again he rest of my life I will be happy. Glad I live in SoCal....
- Not contributing to the conversation, I just cant relate to wanting to be cold.ArmandoEstrada

I live in Maine, and this has been a hell of a hot summer season so far. I am DYING for Autumn. Nothing beats Autumn in Maine.

I grew up skiing from 12-20 years old. Then got into Snowboarding a few years ago. Everything you've learned transfers over, it's just easier and you're going sideways. You'll dig it. Especially in the pow.

i fully support you learning to snowboard. be a responsible parents and teach your kids to a well. skis are the rollerblades of the snow.

- anybody who's spent any time actually navigating a real mountain knows that's a load of crap.bogue

"skis are the rollerblades of the snow"
That's got to be the most retarded analogy I've ever heard...
