Use a mac myself, so fontbook does the job. But what about the PC? do Pc's now have an internal application for font type management? Where ever I've been in the past, its always been a pain in the ass adding fonts to the windows fonts folder, that seriously can not be good storing all that type to run on all apps? or is that alright?

Win7 allows for 'Sjortcut installation' of fonts, meaning you can organise your fonts within a folder structure, right-clicking to install.
To uninstall, you still have to do it via Windows/Fonts.
Viewing fonts is fairly dire - though you can max the icon, where three preview letters are included.
Not the best solution, for sure - but it works if you're doing your own thing, not managing too many fonts and are familiar with your collection.

If you've been on macs for long, you should know that fontbook is not very good, you should be using something else like:
which is also available for PC and free
