this is bullshit event planning, and that always pisses me off.
at hard summer fest last year they locked 30,000 people on ecstasy into a stadium, turned spotlights on people, and verbally berated them. people started getting the fear. we were in there for over three hours and were not allowed to leave. they eventually shut it all down. the party became known as "hard bummer fest"...

I reckon stressful situations on drugs lead to insane situations .. very difficult to act in a proactive constructive way. Must have been hellish to be there.
I heard that the organisers decided to keep the festival running, so panic wasn't created on a larger scale - but the implications might be more wide ranging. Knowing and acknowledging that people have died is something that should (usually) take place .. partying (unaware) in a situation like that seems pretty twisted.

Kevin Krausgartner, a 21-year-old who found himself trapped in the tunnel, told German media he had witnessed "gruesome scenes.""I've never seen anything like it," he said. "There were 25 people lying in a heap. I screamed — people could no longer get any air. I saw dead people, and one person was sitting there looking extremely pale. I wanted to give him some water, but the ambulance medic told me there was no point as he was already dead."
Krausgartner said he saw police "standing on the bridge doing nothing."
Incongruously, the sound of thumping bass notes continued to be heard on the festival grounds as many revelers, unaware of the tragedy that had unfolded nearby, continued to party.
Police apparently encouraged organizers to keep the event going as a way of trying to prevent an even bigger outbreak of panic, fearing that people would storm the exits.

the radio said the place allowed 500 thousand people but there were 1,4 million...

Friends of mine were there, they didn't even notice this had happened when they reached the tunnel. An angry policeman chased my friend away, he was filming there but had no idea there were people still on the ground...
Sad day. 19 killed so far :(

1.4 million. that's insane!
I remember the chaos at Glastonbury when it reached 180,000 back in 2001/2 and that was in a field. scary.- It's insane that so many idiots can live in one countryspraycan
