Sure, it means no one wants to go to your site.

Seriously though, you should look at the source of the traffic and see where the drop off occurred, that should tell you something. Could be that someone stopped linking or that you fell off the map on Google.
- Or the user base is on holiday on the beach in Spain, and couldn't be arsed to follow blogs.Continuity
- Or that there was a mysterious plane crash, and they all happened to be on itukit
- Oh, that would be unfortunate.Continuity

No, they wouldn't do that. What search terms do you rank for and has your ranking changed.

have you checked the blog to make sure it's not blacklisted by google? (ie: setup google sitemaps and you'll get a warning there).
there's been a huge surge in malware attacks to wordpress sites in the last fortnight.
use the following just to make sure:

here's info on googles latest update:
http://googleblog.blogspot.com/2…yes they do change the way google works. in little ways all the time and major ways sometimes. it's how they keep marketshare as they give the best results. it means a lot of the seo we use changes also.

and ukit, analytics show the usage. if the search engine doesn't list you as well as it used and send less users your way then the analytics will show this. this is pretty basic cart before horse common sense.

No fuckin shit geniouos, he was suggesting Analytics themselves changed their methods, which I haven't heard anything about. Their means of determining visitor numbers is pretty straightforward.
Of course Google is always changing, everyone knows that, that's why I suggested he check his keyword rankings.

Checked again and my page rank fell from 4 to 2! The search terms varied but it was mostly 'local' search terms from the city where we blog for retail stores and fashion labels.

Well before jumping to conclusions, you might want to download your raw server logs and parse them to compare against GA. Also, perhaps tack on another solution (Reinvigorate, Clicky, etc) to see if they pick up something GA doesn't.

although have you updated wordpress itself lately?
it could be that a theme or function a prior version used was double-handling the analytic code and basically sending false info. now upgraded it's not doing this.
i know it's a stretch but i've seen some terrible php work in come commercial and especially free themes.

Keep in mind Pagerank isn't the be all end all of ranking in the search engine, it's really just a measure of how "popular" your site is.
Having said that, it's likely that whatever killed your Pagerank also killed your rankings, so you should try to figure out if there was some kind of big change either in your site itself, or in the sites linking to you. If, say, a couple site with good Google rankings suddenly stopped linking to you, that would be a typical cause for a drop like that.
