ok, just got my lx3,
it is a beautiful camera, a little bit small for my hands but everything looks even and well thought,
I'll charge the batteries right away because I can't wait to start doing self shots in front of the mirror, more seriously once I finish reading the manual and the batteries are full, I'll do a bike ride and test it.

i have an lx3, i love it, the zoom could be better but other than that i love it. low light is amazing, that lens could pick up the shine from a single sperm hitting a hookers face

I ordered it (lx3) yesterday,
thanks for your advice though HL,
can't wait to have it in my possession.

Also the joystick button/nipple thing on the LX3 may not be to your liking, i didnt like it, but i didnt hate it.

georgeslll you handsome son of a gun!
i weighed up the choice between an LX3 and s90 before i decided on my GF1. Main factors i found were -
LX3
+wide angle lens
-2.5x optical zoom (in practice this isnt much zoom at all)s90
+3.8x optical zoom
+better at high iso than LX3 (not by much but enough)Also, having put the LX3 next to the s90 the wide angle is good, its nice but you can literally take 2 steps back with the s90 and then crop the image and you have the same FOV (i understand the perspective isn't identical, but its not too different). Or simple take 2 shots and stitch them.
There are many LX3 vs s90 tests so have a read.
I personally would buy a Canon G11, only a bit bigger and you have more manual control, a 5x zoom lens, which is also great for macro.
Good luck!

I own five Canons (from the G9 to the 5D Mk.II) and for the money and results (keeping in mind barely anything P&S shoots well in poor lighting) the LX3 is a kick ass piece of hardware. Do order a second lens cap (I've lost two already) and there is no remote, so no in flagrante delicto photos, ok? =]

the lx3 is a stellar point and shoot. next best thing is a canon dslr imo.

why don't you get the epl1?

don't buy a sigma dp1 or dp2.
i had an LX2 that got stolen, and i bought a dp1 to replace it. sure, the sensor is vast compared to the minisensors on almost all compacts, but the LX2 blew it away in terms of operating speed, low-light sensitivity, and battery life. the sigma compacts are absolute shite.
that is all.
