Anybody use this before. Is it worth the extra cost?
- d_rek0
Really depends on what, how, where, when...
Give us some details and maybe we can answer this a little better?

This thread was helpful (I'm not timelining)

it's normally only a couple of dollars extra and helps the prints last a lot longer. it also helps the colors to look a lot more vivid. the only down side is that you cant write on them- a lot of people want to be able to write little memos on business cards and things.

Not very eco either if thats relevant.

Thanks. For a small run of business cards that are being digitally printed. Just wondering if the colour difference is worth the extra $33.
- how many is a small run? where are you getting these where you are being charged $33 for uv coating? that's outrageous
bjladams - 150 cards. Halcraft Printing in HalifaxGlitterati_Duane
- that's hardly outrageous for a small run.d_rek
- check your email
bjladams - i pay $0.75 for UV coating for less than 1000x cards-bjladams
- Ok, but what are the specs for that job? We have virtually nothing here to reference other than 'small digital run'd_rek
- i'm just commenting on the $33 for UV coating- does not matter on any other specs, that's a lot for the coating.bjladams

Not only colours. These techniques eliminates the original texture. What do you lose it you earn.
- d_rek0
The extra $33 is not only the UV you're paying for.
Since it's a small digital run you're paying to have a pressman yank your prints off of the digital press and to put them in line with a machine / press that will apply the UV coating.
If you're going digital why not just print on a high-gloss stock? Unless your intent was to seal the print with a satin or dull varnish...
- d_rek0
Why not just ask your printer why the cost goes up that much?
You're giving us shit for details... it could be any number of things affecting cost - color, stock, type of coating, is it inline vs having to pull it, timing, etc.... who knows.
- are they duplex? die-cut? fucking details man!d_rek
- embossed, foiled, stickered, jizzed on... fuckin details!d_rek

Just regular ass double sided digital print. The printer mentioned UV printing so I'm debating if I should do it. There aren't any more details than that
- i just emailed you another place that does same day printing with uv coating for less than $30bjladams
- Cool thanksGlitterati_Duane

Well. You'll certainly get what you pay for. $30 for 1000 qty?
