I never heard of them before someone posted here a video of them. Now, I found photos of them almost everywhere. But are them really so famous? And if yes, where?

They're from South Africa, and have been popular there for some time, as I understand it.

I'm pretty sure QBN is solely responsible for their popularity

they are not as popular in SA as overseas. I think there is a little bit of resentment from the 'cool' kids back home that these guys have made it. not everyone of course. just saying.

They're rad. Of course with popularity will come all the hate. Hipster mentality at its finest.

yeah there's a lot of haters in SA same as everywhere else, but all their shows are sold out. They're one of those things that people think it's cool to slag off but still buy into.
I personally love it. oh and btw dj hi-tek is just a front. the real producer is an awesome bloke but just too intelligent looking for the band. and a brilliant producer.
Here's a vid of his, shot by a mate of mine. He's the baldy guy
- dj hi-tek is justin de nobrega? I had no idea...mattthejanitor
- well he's not dj hitek but i didn't know he produced their stuff. looks like he did jack parrow as wellmattthejanitor
- yeah pretty much. He's the king!Projectile

From the background I've happened upon; the prior attempts at farcical character representations and their history in Safa clubs, I've got to give them massive respect - they really know, ply and live their trade and all's the more - seem to have fun with it.
There have been concerns voiced that they might get too involved, too egoist or full of themselves, but I feel they're taking the piss too much to go that route.
The music, as much of a piss take as it might be, is actually pretty fucking good too.
All Love here.

I dont like their music that much, but its nice to see someone try something a little different and get some recognition for it.
Should be interesting if they ever actually get big, and then all the underground dorks jump off the bandwagon and talk about how they used to be good. I love when that happens.

flavor of the summer. they have some catchy tunes, but doesn't feel like enough talent to last long. i wasn't very impressed when watching their coachella performance and boingboing interview online.

Got tickets for Music Hall of Williamsburg!
I know they're gimmicky but could be fun to see 'm live, especially in a smaller venue like this.
