Xerox Star

I dunno if you'd class this as a GUI, but I love the ideas behind this eMag prototype.

This might be an abstract way of examining the problem - but it could be useful to research ways of interacting with information that don't involve computing.
For example, I think it's nice to think of a book as an example of an interface that's stood the test of time.
* It has a cover which creates differentiation between titles and allows for easy identification.
* A spine which allows it to be identified in-situ.
* A blurb on the back cover provides summary information.
* It has an index for locating specific content
* Progress can be judged in a visual and tactile sense, by examining how many page precede / proceed the current page.
* It's portableetc., etc.

now set up a 4 player game of Halo 2now shout at the screen because the morons behind Halo 2 couldn't just copy the design genius of the Perfect Dark multiplayer menu.
