seriously, read this story. basically the queue to the apple store was massive and continued to be massive all morning for the ipad release. a few metres away the jb hifi store selling ipad's had no queue.

humanity has lost touch with what matters - ironic that it is creative people (generally open-minded) who have become sad brand-bummers
- are you saying that if you buy apple products you are automaticlly creative?flashbender
- nope just a lot are in the creative industries and they tend to be the fanboy losersckentish

apologies, just throwing this out there.
so here' a guy who has the luxury of tossing a week sitting on a street corner; to buy a phone. it's sad and even pathetic imo because i bet there's a kids centre around there which'd love to have volunteers show up and help out, etc. like big brother style or donate skills. habitat for humanity, non-profits for good causes, whatever. i guess as i get older i am beginning to notice these things. it's like life's priorities are all out of whack for a lot (most?) of people. seems like such a waste.

Maybe we shouldn't be so harsh, after all this is a triumph of our industry (those who work in advertising/ marketing anyway).
We've not only convinced a handicapped teenager with no job to wait in line to fork over hundreds of dollars to a giant company, we've made him want to so much he gets there a week in advance.

I'm the biggest apple fan you'll ever meet, I've been buying their products since 2008.
I'm sorry you are over 30 years late to be the "biggest fan"

Apple must be paying for this.

@miguex, no doubt. i remember using a powerbook 150 regularly and printing assignments to a roland dot matrix. and a mac classic. that's taking it waaaay back. and i'm pretty sure i wouldn't even qualify as the 'biggest fan'.
- i miss you little p150, r.i.p.

So no shower for a week?

wonder how much he paid just for the camping equipment. however coleman was the original social tool... wouldn't be surprised if its "guerilla" marketing stunt that grows the "brand" or worse just an attention whore wanting 15 minutes of fame and the phone is just the means. i shit on him.

"Normally I only camp out over night, but since I do not work due to the fact I am disabled with a seizure disorder and I am not in school at the point, I figure I just make it a fun experience and do it for a week."
So how the fuck can he afford to buy a new iPhone?
- ...Let alone enjoy that brushed metal, which have to hidden behind some rubbery cover, what with the seizures and all.Peter

i hope he doesn't start seizing uncontrollably right as they are opening the doors on launch day. that wouldn't be funny at all.
