Anyone else here into yerba mate?
Tried it few months back, and have now stopped drinking coffee, since this stuff is not only as potent as coffee (without the negative effects), it's also healthier than green tea... Just lovely...
Pretty suprised it hasn't hit the mainstream outside of South America...

Yeah I used to fuck with it heavy. Teavana has some good mate teas. I read somewhere though that it messes your system up long-term. No clue if that's true or not.

I'm from uruguay. Mate is some kind of a religion here. I drink it everyday. Like english tea, yerba mate comes in many kinds and flavours. I prefer mild ones, low in matteine (sort of caffeine).
Here's a family of symbols I designed some time ago. Those are the different objects used to drink the infussion in the traditional way.

yeah in Uruguay & Argentina is everywhere. People go in the bus with one hand on the handle and the other one holding the mate and thermos under the armpit. And is completely normal to share the same mate in a circle of friends, all of them from the same bombilla.
I never got into it to be honest, I had a few sips here and there but not my thing (neither is coffee) but it's crazy to see how popular is becoming in the states, is like the new guarana.

A dude at work had a bag of this with his special cup and metal straw and everyone thought it was some kind of drug paraphernalia.
