William Gibson's 1984 novel Neuromancer will finally become a movie, directed by Vincenzo Natali, who created The Cube and Splice.
Should be pretty sweet...this is one of those books that always deserved to be a movie...and will almost certainly be awesome so long as they avoid casting Shia LaBoeuf or Ashton Kucher or something.

"Seven Arts sees Neuromancer as the first installment in a potential multi-film series that would utilize some of Gibson's other sci-fi works that have yet to be adapted for the big screen."

Interesting... one of my favorite Gibson novels.

I thought Joseph Khan was locked in to direct this?

Hope they don´t do a shity film like with Johny Pnemonic, i love this book
- The sad irony of the Johnny Mnemonic film is the fact Gibson wrote the screenplay. :(Continuity

Yeah Kahn was supposed to direct...and before that Chris Cunningham. It's one of those projects that has gone through a series of people and never gotten off the ground.

Where's my movie version of snowcrash?

I wish Cunningham could of done it. Would of done him the world of good rather than wallowing god knows where right now.
Canny wait for the film though, whoever does it.

Such a incredible book... I loved from the first page to the last.
It changed the way i see many things (i did my final degree show on the themes of cyberpunk) and has always played a important part of my modern thinking processn since. This and also AKIRA, BLADE RUNNER and a few other modern works art are very dear to me, and tend to get worried when i here news like this.

I am more worried about the Akira remake starring Leonardo DiCaprio as a Japanese guy
- Oh, god. Please say you're just taking the piss.Continuity

- I read the script, well the first part anyway, it's based on the manga. Reads as an action flick, not a masterpiece.inteliboy

I just couldn't get into Neuromancer. I know, I know. It kick-started the genre. It created The Matrix, etc. I found the book to be very creative but I just didn't enjoy the writing or the characters themselves.
"Pattern Recognition" (2003), however . . . WOW. Fantastic. Home run all the way. Shows that Gibson really matured over the years and can make the present even more interesting than the future. A true feat in sci-fi to be sure. (The sequel, Spook Country, was also interesting though not as good.) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pat…)

"...who created The Cube and Splice"
Splice is quite easily one of the worst films I have ever seen.

There has been an anticipation of a complete disaster since the first mention of the Neuromancer movie.

I'll take Johnny Mnemonic over a Will Smith appearance.
At least it had a memorable scene where Rollins leaves on a high note.

let's hope this gets off the ground faster than, say, the ender's game movie
- it doesn't help that card is a massive anti-semite. that goes well in hollywood.airey
