CS4 appears to auto-activate when starting up. So no help there.

I had the same problem in CS3, and there is only one way to get the number (apart from calling adobe). You have to de-activate your CS from the help menu. PS will then quit. Then, start up PS and your serial number will be populating the entry field for you to reactivate.
Sounds sketchy but it worked for me.
- hummm - this sounds like a stitchup to meckentish

CS4:
Help > System Info... > Serial number: xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

If you ordered off the site, don't they list it there?

depends on 'the machine' i guess. or the os more specifically. registry data or a plist maybe. calling adobe might resolve it quicker. also if you misplaced the box (!) you might want to see if they can cancel that one and reissue a fresh one.

Where would your serial number be located within the machine. Box was misplaced need the serial number.
