I have an iphone and my contracts been up for a while now so just looking around. I dont really use the apps, just gmail, facebook, twitter, web. Calculator. Basic stuff. Thinking because I use google for mail, docs, photos, HTC might be better? Not sure whether any htc is better or just nexus one, or are they all the same in that respect?
- Android syncs very nicely with Facebook and Twitter. Google voice is amazing.munch

When I first got my Nexus One I was ready to return it after the first day. I had been using an iPhone for 3 years and I'd become so used to it. I decided to give it a fair go and I'm glad I did because I'm really happy with it now. It's more like a mini computer, you have a lot more options and settings. If you want something that is super simple I would say stick with the iPhone but go with Android if you want something more robust. The Google voice app really sold me because I make a lot of international calls. All of the Google apps work very well especially Gmail. Third party apps are catching up the the iPhone ones in quality. The official twitter app is very nice and syncs with your contacts like Facebook. The multi-tasking is great but iPhone OS 4 will have that. Love the widgets. It's more about syncing with online services rather than plugging-in your phone to sync with music, calendar, photos etc. Google wants you to do all of that in the cloud.

on that note, if you're out in the freaking woods with no signal, you've no access to your infos? or is it stored locally and continually syncing?
also, is there a built in calendar app? how is it? the iphone's calendar is prolly one of the best on a mobile device that i've used.
- If no signal you still have all contacts, numbers etc. and apps.munch
- Calendar syncs with your Google calendar. Does everything the iPhone does I think.munch
- Also synchs with Exchange if you are unfortunate/fortunat... enough to use it at work...enfocusmedia

Had a bash on my lady friends Desire (if you catch my drift), it's awesome, I really liked it and I have an iPhone. The screen is crazy sharp!! Vids look sweet, sites look very good, it also has pinch zoom too if I remember rightly.
Would I have or instead of my iPhone... Maybe, it's very nice. And installing apps is far easier, no iTunes resource jogging crap.

If you're looking for a slightly smaller, sleeker looking android phone, you should also check out the HTC Legend.
It's cpu isn't as fast as the Desire but it's still very snappy and a lot more 'pocketable' (Is that even a word?). Better battery life as well...
Aesthetically, imho it looks a lot better too.

Have had the desire for around a month now. Can't fault it. Quality apps, runs smoothly and I've just installed a gameboy advanced emulator, what can possibly beat that!!

Currently using the Google G1 with a 528 MHz processor. The Desire has a 1 GHz processor!! That will be a big difference.

" I took mine back and got the iphone "
interesting, the first part of this thread had made what to give up my iphone.

Well - I figure this phone is only going to get better once Android 2.2 has been released for it (which will apparently be mid-July).
