I am designing a logotype which includes an apostrophe, e.g. Rikki's. Are there any other accepted ways of displaying the 's' without having to use an apostrophe before it?

not really. the apostrophe has a particular meaning.
You want Rikki's Blank, not Rikkis Blank, right?
- and you don't want Rikk is blank :)Amicus
- Nor do you particularly want to take the Blank away from Rikki.Continuity

Just change the brand a little bit. When you explain you have a phobia of apostrophes the client will understand.
Rikki's Blank -> The Blank of Rikki
DONE!

Cheers for the usefl input, I'll have Rikki send you all a free dildo in appreciation.

I've not thought about it before but that underline S works well. It does make it looks like a butcher/baker/greengrocer/old confectioner though.

You intend to tune too. Tipografia due to spelling.
Does the material provide the solution? With a cut, with a cut,
or different treatment? ... varnish, polish ...

I was thinking that too, but couldn't find any examples. I'll probably just try to incorporate the apostrophe in a subtle manner. Most probably in the shape of a dildo as was wisely suggested earlier.
