over wifi is painfully slow. 5 minutes to transfer 22mbs.
Is that normal? I'm running airport extreme and 2 mac book pros
- MSL0
No, that is not normal.

it's normally slow, but not that slow...

wonder what it could be

WiFi is painfuly slow, even if you're on WiFi-n. Real world transfers are much slower than spec-sheet ones.
Mind you, the same WiFi connection is likely dealing with all other network activity at the same time, ie. you posting on an online board. It is not helping your file transfer.

get yourself a Firewire cable

Ethernet is massively faster than Wifi. Wifi is fine for the web but networking between computers its just tediously slow.

Go to Applications > Utilities > AirPort Utility, pick your AirPort Extreme, press Manual Setup, then Wireless Clients.
It should show both laptops connected to the AirPort. What are the Signal/Noise/Rate values? Are they constant or changing?- Not that it could help much, but can tell if you're utilizing your network capabilities fullyraf

Also, might be worth checking around your place to see if you have any electrical items that might be interfering with the wi-fi signal. Microwaves, radio's etc can cause problems.

also what are you using to send files between them?
