Apparently some good soul have "saved" a painting that bansky did in Detroit?
would have they done the same if they weren't sure to cash in...

There was a guy who had a stall outside a tube station in London with a big heavy flap cover that he lowered at night to keep his stock safe. He came to work one morning to find he had a Banksy on his flap and some city tosser offered him thousands for it.
So he just ordered a new flap and sold it.
I was told that story by a guy I know who sells the Evening Standard so it must be true.

Wolfboy, that is a true story. I used to work on tottenham court road, opposite that stand. It was on the back of one of those street stalls that sells suitcases etc. Then one day it was just gone, I read he sold it (obviously not knowing what it was).
They kind of don't work out of context though.
That said, there a huge shepard fairey poster pasted up near my studio, the council normally remove them. Would it be worth trying to save it. are they worth anything? If not, it's still pretty nice anyway for my wall

how many fake banksy's are there out there? I mean how hard can it be to make a stencil that looks like one of his and spray it onto your restaurant?
or better yet.. a broken piece of wall so no one can say whether they've seen it or not
