there's a piece of software for mac's that can create those type of line.... sorry but i can't remember what it's called.

Illustrator is the software you're thinking of, sequoia.
Draw two lines, blend them with the blend tool, as stated above.

Create the two lines on the outside - what you want one line to transform into. Select them both. Then Object > Blend> Blend Options> Specific Steps -- set how many steps, select options for how you want the lines to blend... OK
Then Object> Blend> Make

as for the repeat option - theres a proper tool for this

some of those could be made by drawing 2 different colored squiggles, then go to object>blend and set it to a specified number of steps. then object>blend>make
