I'm trying to find some decent quality name badges for a client for a trade show. He mentioned the magnetic type...
I've found a lot places that do the standard corporate template nastiness. Anyone seen some nice solutions in the exhibition design world? Or indeed know of a place that produces nice ones?
Thanks!

i would get a metal shop to cut out the name plates in thin sheet metal. silkscreen the design to each plate and then get some small earth magnets to hold it on to the clothing.

trade show or exhibition?
trade shows usually do the standard thing everyone wears with the barcodes so they can be scanned.
- They'll be using them in different scenarios, a company badge, not a trade show badge.Affluenza

Further to transmission's suggestion, I'd've gone with 'try your local laser cutting service'. With a bit of thought, or with just the right materials (there are loads of laser-engraving-specific multi-laminate materials out there), they could make up a badge close to your own specification.
Only problem with both of these options is that your client won't be able to update the names on the front (though with the laser-cutting option, it should just be a matter of editing and re-printing a file)
- Thanks. I should also mention, need them within 2 weeks. Only eleven badges though.Affluenza
- I do laser cutting here in London, so can assure you that 2 weeks should be enough time to turn this arounddetritus
- I have these guys bookmarked, from your neck of the woods - it's not a recc. I just have them handy!detritus

Actually, if you check out avery sticker templates (for example), you could probably design it so your client could print out a small name portion easily, from a template you supply, allowing her to update it as she pleases. You can focus on making the rest of it look splendid!
