Sort of embarrassing for Microsoft
"The device was first unveiled by Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer at CES 2010 in January and was supposed to hit the market in mid 2010. But our source tells us that HP is not satisfied with Windows 7 as a tablet operating system and has terminated the project"
- everything they do usually ends up an embarrassment no?lambsy

I'm more curious as to what exactly they were "not satisfied" with about Windows. It must have been something fairly disastrous, I mean it looked like the product was ready to go and was even supposed to ship a month from now.

maybe they got their hands on an ipad and realized the form-factor was solving a problem that never really existed?
It stands to reason, earlier tablets never really went anywhere.

but monNom, the i-Pad form-factor is solving a big problem.
It is making it easier to identify the stupid assholes that lurk among us.
- ukit0
Yeah maybe. Although if that was the case you'd sort of think they would have figured it out somewhere in the process of building such a device.

maybe the cost to make was too high w apples low price and advantage to cheap low production w the iphone?

I am shocked at people who failed to see the potential of the iPad. Either you haven't tried it or you are just stuck in your old way of doing stuff.
I think its an amazing product and its deserves a lot of credit. Remeber that the ipads arent primarily for smartypants like you, but for your mother and all the people who dont care about technology as much as you do.

Maybe microsoft and hp will join forces

HP will try and resurrect the Palm OS in tablet form. Also, they're supposedly dropping intel on the tablet, it's too power-hungry.
