Need to send someone a case of beer. Not a mate, but somebody who highly recommended me for a job and i got it. This person has also expressed interest in hiring me in the future.
To set the context, this person is in a senior creative role, English, working in the digital media space in Sydney.
I was initially going to go with an expensive Champagne but thought an expensve case of beer may be better.
Your thoughts?

Sending both would knock their socks off, but he (I'm guessing it's a 'he' given you're sending beer) would not forget a carton of QUALITY beer, or a bottle of plonk he could put in the cellar for a few years.

a properly decent single malt whisky or fine armagnac would be much better. Or a case of fine wine.
Beer's too... ordinary (even decent beer) And then there's the ale or lager (is there even such a thing as a fine lager?) problem.
