I have this photo to be turned into a 1 color handpulled screenprint... what is the usual way of treating this photo in PS for best results?

posterize?

then depending on result, maybe print it out and trace with a fine sharpie, then scan back in as final. this is how i'd probably do it.

image > mode > indexed color > colors: 2, no transparency, forced colors > choose 2 custom colors, tweak as needed, then transform to black and white when satisfied.
- oh yah turn off dithering in the indexed color dialog box toobigtrickagain

if it is high res enough just burn it to film.
if you want to make it "shmancy" (means fancy or shit) you can use the halftone screen in the bitmap functions.

nice thanks

or instead of scanning in (ie: if no need to), if sharpie-traced on a transparency, you have your final positive.

You will prob get the best results doing it the hard way and using the photo as a basis for a two color vector illustration.
