wait... if you're getting the source from a 3D guy, you should be able to ask him to re-export at the new frame rate.... and get a clean clip....

maybe drop your movie in an AE comp, then when you re-render it out, change your rendering settings to Field Render (upper or lower) and add a pulldown sequence.

ITZ liek upscaling a jpig.
it looks like this

thanks SPECTACULAR i like your die-o-grumz
i tried exporting a clip and for some reason it looks fine, I have a tendency to think that it's because speeding it up is fine it would be slowing it down that would fucks it ups.just wanna make shurz

SPECTACULAR, much as your terrible spelling and grammar will always annoy me, i am considering using jpig myself.
I will of course tell people it was my idea.

i always let ae do my frame conversions for me, unless its for broadcast i wouldnt worry too much, chances are it would be finished at post house anyway before going on air (i.e digibeta) so they would make sure it wasnt dropping frames.

@fxone;
If you play back 25 fps at 30 fps - what do you think will happen to your sound?
You haven't even mentioned which software package you're using.
- fxone0
using after effects.
the piece is 15 seconds... so if i drop the audio (also 15 seconds) into the new 30fps comp it shouldnt change right?...

@ lukus_W
so say i manage to get the 15 sec animation at 30fps from the 3D guy... but drop in my 15 sec audio in it. then it would be fine?- yeah, basically - if you have 25 frames a second .. the extra 5 frames have to come from somewhere.lukus_W
- usually - if you convert the video, the frames will be approximately blended to create the extra frameslukus_W
- ok ill get the animation at 30 fps then. it was the sound i was worried about. thanksfxone
- but the result won't be great, afaik.lukus_W
- (result won't be great if you convert)lukus_W

yeah so i wont convert ill just get the source file at 30fps and drop in the 15 sec audio i got. i thought maybe it would be easy to convert the source from 25 to 30 but yeah seems like a bit of a hassle. thanks !

twixtor or compressor is the best solution, just converting it to 25 in AE will result in artifacts.
Interpreting to 25 will be 20% slowmotion, but no loss of quality (everyframe will be the same, just slower playback). If audiosyncing is important, and video quality is as well: Use the software i mention above, will look best but rendertimes are long
