Web beats print for the same reasons ukit mentioned.
if its only looked at at a glance then thats fine the idea is that people go away satisfied or they go 'oooh' when something nice slides in.
I still get the satisfaction from building a complex interface that is easy and intuitive to use.

tell me of this wet design you speak of...

I dunno. I did print exclusively for 5 years and there wasn't a whole lot of artistic expression involved. Even at supposedly "creative" shops there's a ton of baggage you have to deal with. If you actually want opportunities to be truly imaginative, stop looking to design as an outlet. Design is – at best – work bred out of compromise.
- And yes, I prefer doing web design. Press checks and all the bullshit that comes along with them can eat my ass.bort

personally i enjoy the puzzle of it. How will it make sense? how will it work on different size screens? There is plenty of room for creativity, but you can't really compare the expression of illustration to web design. And best of all you don't have a factory fucking up your printing, or the worry of finding a typo on a print run of 100,000.

^ a well designed site provides an experience
^ a well crafted experience provides an audience
^ an audience provides eye balls
^ eye balls provide cashSo yes .. you will be able to sell a vintage website next year, as long as it's good enough to have attracted a large enough following.

Does web design have a resale value? (not including addons and templates)
I want to be able to sale a vintage web site next year!

I find the aesthetic of web/ interactive more interesting to be honest. I don't really get hard looking at a nice piece of print. Unless it's porn.

i think ukit put it very well^^
however motion designers get to produce work to marvelled at, print designers get to produce work which is likely to be taken more seriously and us web designers get to produce work which can be glanced at for half a second then disregarded forever, regardless of the fact we spent days getting it work in all the browsers on the planet.
a mixed response i suppose.but yeah i like it.

Web design is constantly changing/ evolving. New technologies appear every day.

all good points, so web design = humanism

I think interactive/ web design is by far the most interesting. Being able to create something that people interact with is much more rewarding than just creating an illustration or a regular print design for me.

I enjoy designing websites.
I don't consider it an artistic output or anything like that, but I like creating something that people use.

I love getting a psd and making it into a usable, accessible site. I'm completely anal about getting all my xhtml & css to validate, so the challenge from the design team keeps me on my toes!
Just realised, I don't actually design them so this thread might not be for me...

RELEASE THE KRAKEN!

who actually enjoys it?
arent Motion design, and illustration and sometimes print — more expressive / artistic stuff — slightly more interesting?Or do most people enjoy the really techy / geeky corporate side of webdesign and making buttons and banners?
just asking
