A hint as to what universe you are living might help.
Matt Blatt are great if you want replicas and you live in Oz.

BTW - one easy way to tell the cheap replicas is the armrests.
They do not make a full loop like the real ones do. I think some of the knock-offs have full looping armrests, but not most.
BTW - i have a knock-off just like that one from Target pictured above. pretty solid chair.

Where the fuck are you?

Splurge on the real one. It feels nice, breaks in with a lot of character, and will last you a lifetime. I bought a white cream one off craigslist from the 80's a couple years ago. The Time-Life Executive chair is where it's at though for maximum comfort.

Just buy a real one. The whole point of an Eames is the quality and material.

...I also think that Arial is a reasonably priced replica.

I have a 'grey-market' Eames lounger. The main thing to me is it should look exactly like the original, don't care so much who built it... but look at every detail.. the Target one is like a cartoon of the original.

Quick follow up, can anybody comment on the difference between the vinyl and the leather option on the AUTHENTIC version? The price difference is close to $800--seems steep.

the colorguard vinyl will not fade or wear like leather—you won't get that nice patina after a long time, but it is more durable and does not require as much maintenance.
here's a better quality repro with the loop arms and is available in a lot of different leather colors. also more repros of different chairs in that series on the site. if you have the means and can care for it, i'd get the original though.

that looks uncomfortable, needs more padding and cowbell
