This is why I love the internet - saw this thread this morning, scratched my head stupidly, went over to a favoured torrent site, saw a hi-def link, clicked it and within half an hour was watching Band of Brothers II, "How the Jews saved Asia".
Great series. Can't wait for more.
- Did they save it so they could buy the new Acura?Mimio

I've just had the most torturous 2 months of my career working on some of the marketing campaign for this - the program looks great but I'm gonna wait for the box set to give me time to separate the program from the fuck wits who are broadcasting it here in the UK.
- Which fuckwits are they?
Why not torrent?detritus - I didn't get my hands on a copy - we were just shown the first few episodes in the inhouse viewing theater.Wolfboy
- and they are Sky TVWolfboy
- heh, I didn't mean 'add to', just 'borrow from' torrent! Ah, Sky. Of course, a proven big budget attraction.detritus

^detritus. I don't think this has even been released as of yet. Only one episode was on HBO live. It was produced specifically for HBO, I believe, it's going to take up until the last released episode, which is at least 9 weeks away dude.

Finally caught the first episode last night. I liked that they threw themselves in the shit right away. Band of Brothers was kinda boring in the beginning. Not sure if BOB was filmed in HD(it was great, don't get me wrong), but the quality of the Pacific is much better. That firefight night scene across the channel was epic.
Looking forward to episode 2.

"I said this earlier....
Tom Hanks is nothing but a hypocrite and a liar.
His liberal and vocal slant is nothing but a cover to deflect the PC spewing of his liberal pals since he had to use Un-PC verbiage in his latest project. This way he blames the WWII vets for racism so that they do not throw the anal drippings at him or his other liberal pal Spielberg.
It is that simple.
A VERY BIG LIE TO MAKE A BUCK AND TO KEEP THE LIBERALS OFF THEIR ASSES!
I hope all the vets everywhere now turn on this asshole!"

Saw this last night. I thought it was a bit dull. Not giving up on it yet though.

I saw it last night on hbo.com and really hope they will put other episodes up on there for free.
Interesting that some of you have relatives that were B17 Ball-Turret gunners. My stepdad's dad was one of them over Germany. I think he flew more than 40 missions across France and into Germany; they were frequently involved in bombing of Berlin. He has some journals apparently that he wrote and kept during their flights. I've never read them but it'd be interesting to. He passed away about 3 years ago.

On one of my father's missions, they came up on German Jet fighters. They had the first jet fighters. They couldn't quite get a 'bead' on them, because of their speed. He said it was terrifying, and they were shot up pretty badly.
After the battle, the bottom ball-turret gunner radioed that he was freezing and needed a blanket. He was advised to plug in his 'heater pants' - which he said didn't work. They had a lengthy discussion about why his pants wouldn't work, and to try this, or that... Finally the pilot said to 'cut the chatter' and dad went over to the ball turret to see what was the matter. Turns out, the jet buzzing by the bomber had scared the kid in the ball turret so badly, he pissed his pants, shorting out his heater pants. Dad handed him a blanket and told him that he was no more afraid or terrified than anyone else on board was.
These are the kinds of stories he's tell. No real battle stories.
I DO however, have several B&W photos that he took out the window of formation flying during missions.

Really enjoyed the first episode - but I personally really liked the complete and detailed progression that Band of Brothers took in its coverage. Personally, I loved those initial episodes, and thought the setup was absolutely perfect before the shit hit the fan.

There is an episode on OnDemand if you have Comcast.

If you subscribe to HBO, you can watch it on-demand at www.hbogo.com

that fight in ep.II was craaaaaaazy.

with regards to the build up of BoB, which i agree was more compelling - wasnt that indicative of how the US entered the European theatre and in the Pacific they were more "thrown into it" ?

Sorry, that just wasn't as good as this:
When they tear up that camp at the top of the hill, etc.

pretty good mini-series so far.
- Episode 3 was a smidge on the boring side, but I guess they're being historically accurate.Andrew_D
