Part of tech business sector I guess.
I bet they're being sued for a lot more over otter patents they have infringed... just one big vicious circle
- GeorgesII0
when you actually click the links and read the patents, its even more funny.
(btw do you say - more funny or funnier ??)- funnierhans_glib

shit like this is happening all the time with these tech companies
though damn the nerds sure do get riled up when apple is in town.

i remember when they launched the iphone Jobs reassured everyone they had locked down as many patents as they could to stop or slow down competitor efforts to match the phone. i guess he wasn't lying...

- How can AN object-oriented system be A patent? That's how it's supposed to be.monospaced
- Weird in my head I was reading Object-Oriented Graphic System (OOGS) as an acronym. Just did not seem right.rson

Whatever. Nokia just sued the fuck out of Apple for creating a phone in the first place. It's not just Apple, it's everyone doing this.

Apple turns the flamethrower on Android
If you tolerate this your handset will be nexthttp://www.theregister.co.uk/201…
The article suggests if Apple wins, manufacturers will be too afraid of legal action to continue with Android as it is, leaving Apple, Nokia and RIM with the largest number of patents as the 'last men standing'.
I don't want an iPhone, I don't like my Blackberry, and nothing Nokia has made in years tempts me to go back there.... pity for everyone, really.
- GeorgesII0
the only reason why I propagate news like this is to give work to Apple's PR machine.
Thanks to me, they have work and can feed their families,GeorgesII, the job maker

I guess being wingey little cunts are partly why they are where they are today. You have to be a cunt in business. Its the system.

- patented?? it's spelled p-e-n-e-t-r-a-t-e-d you titProjectile
- vaxorcist0
hmmm.... I would like to see somebody release a modded version of android that violates none of the above patents, in order so show how useless devices will be if all these patent lawsuits are successful...
I mrean really....
* 7633076: Automated Response To And Sensing Of User Activity In Portable Devices- It knows when you take the phone away from your ear and lights up the screen, for instancemonospaced
- yeah this one covers the proximity sensorernexbcn

These patent claims are outlining a reverse-engineering type of infringement lawsuit. They mean to prove that HTC just dissected their design.

The entire phone market looks like they're copying apple. How is it that only HTC gets sued? Often I look at some of these cellphones and I swear, I would think that it was an iPhone knock-off

- borrowing is smart. stealing is brilliant.ifeltdave
- still beating this dead horse, I seemonospaced
- none of these are that close. esp the iphone comparison. It's laughable.Amicus

i would think with all these restrictions competitors would be forced to make something new and (hopefully) better.
when apple got into the smartphone business, they didn't make an os that was a knock-off of blackberry os or windows mobile os. they made something better.
they made a phone that was easy to use. they should protect what they created. other companies should sew it up and grow a pair and start making a better os
