Does Maya calendar predict 2012 apocalypse?

Here's my theory. On December xx, 2012, there will be a big build up, lots of stories in the news, fear, loathing, paranoia etc etc
Then when the actual day rolls around, nothing. People will be super relived and there will be dancing in the streets.
But then a couple weeks later the world will end, proving the Mayans were good, but not that good, with math.

I am still cursing those lazy Mayans for not creating an infinite calendar and ensuring the world kept on truckin'. What, some Mayan get a crimp in his rock chipping hand and decide to collect unemployment? I mean, did they look at it and say, "good enough for now, we'll add to it later" then inconveniently get wiped from existence at the hands of the Spaniards before doing so? Fuck, get it together!
There are a few scattered remnants of the Mayan bloodlines, open up fucking Outlook and keep that Calendar going!

'the end of the world' 2012 is hype. the Mayans never predicted anything as far as a I know they just had a calender that ended then relative to our calender. I might be wrong. its the START of new era either way you look at it, so its symbolic and not a total disaster. Its like self referential awareness, higher level consciousness on a mass social scale and its already started, Mayan prophesies are apart of it, so is the return of Christ. Yes, the movie 2012 was made primarily using Maya for it's CGI texture mapping and motion integration.
Other than that, some ancient shaman's excuse for not bothering to create in infinite amount of calculations and people believe it to be the end of the earth is a fucking joke.
