It's not that hard a process, but I was also wondering about a decent printer who'd do it for an upcoming project.

I'm curious... i've seen something like this before, where one side of the paper was a different color. it was basically two pieces of paper seem-lessly glued onto one another. is it the same thing, or another process?
- <duplexedpartdeux
- ya that was it. i guess perhaps its a different process********

doing one too, apparently not all pantone colours can be used. wtf?

depending on the stock thickness several sheets are pressed together using something like some G clamps and some wood and the edges are then printed. Works best on ultra thick business cards. Books can be done even more trickily with an image printed across the page edges and even around all three nonbound edges.
Totally different to duplexing, triplexing or sepaplexing (http://www.underconsideration.c...

and by 'printing' you mean 'painted on with a brush'.

yep doing it yourself seems to be the way to go, I spoke to a few printers but they had no idea what i was talking about.

this might be a stupid question, so apologise - but can one buy an amount of pantone ink?
- Amicus0
@inteliboy - you could probably get your favourite printer to mix you up a small pot for not too much cashola.

I guess everybody's doing it

was going to use glow in the dark ink with a licorice/aniseed scent, but the client is allergic to licorice and scared of the dark ;)

try contacting these guys Hue, they might not do it themselves, but surely they'd know someone..
- an no, pantones aren't used, it's not a printing ink that's used, although I can't remember what it is called..neue75_bold
- so colour selection is a bit limited..neue75_bold
