hows it printed? and how many? IF its a small hand made run kurecolour markers work pretty well...
- neue75_bold0
also, you can do as you, find a substrate that has a coloured core and screen-print on top...
- 'as you say' ... fuck me 6 hours of meetings renders me stunted...neue75_bold

- Shit. Shoulda checked before I posted - that's not the right thread. Bugger, sorry.detritus
- yes it is...neue75_bold
- *racks brain* FUCK, I remember there was a thread with an answer to this, but what on Earth was it?!detritus
- No, there was another one, with some deeper answers, including one from erstwhile chum, Spooky.detritus
- pfft... there's more than enough answers here, we did it with credit cards, it's just a matter of money and quantity..neue75_bold
- Aye, for sure, but I think t'other thread mentioned a London printer who did it? No matter, I can't remember it anyway.detritus
- the printer for the cards was in the uk, but not london, I can find out if vespa ever returns and gives more info..neue75_bold
- doesn't need to be london. run of 500?vespa
- probably too small for the UK one, but will look into some Dutch printers who could do this...neue75_bold
- appreciated!vespa

thanks guys! you're brilliant! if anyone can remember the london printer i'd be so grateful, no joy from the 10 uk printers i've called so far :(
neue do you know anyone?
- neue75_bold0
I can try to find out, it was in the UK, but not in London... I'll email my old studio...

If you DIY make sure you press all those cards together tight so you don't get any bleeding on to the front and back.

I just got a new discover card in the mail that has an orange edge all the way around. Pretty slick looking. To bad I won't be keeping it since I just found out they raised my rate almost a year ago from 13.9% to 20.9% for no reason without proper notification.
- agentfour0
could be a semi obvious answer, but
http://www.progresspkg.co.ukthey may not do it but may be able to point you to someone who does.
- neue75_bold0
ok, the uk company is just cards, like bank, credit, http://www.oberthurcs.com/
will look into Dutch companies tomorrow... I know a couple that do odd things in small runs..
- vespa0
thanks heaps for your help guys, still no joy from any of the printers i'm calling...
- horton0
sorry i don't think it's possible off the, unless you find a paper with a colored core, or get a custom 3 ply laminate.
or seriously, if you really are talking 500, clamp down your trimmed bundle really tight and spray paint the block. don't use markers, they will def bleed and most pigments fade over time.
that sample image looks like a plastic card not paper.
- horton0
+ your first idea of screenprinting white over blue card would not be a feasible solution. would require several opaque hits and the ink weight would surely warp the card.
- doesnotexist0
it's edging and it's expensive. check with your printer.
- vespa0
hmm visually i wouldn't mind them being plastic but it seems like environmental overkill doesn't it? or am i just being a broadcast designer and freaking out about making something that could end up as landfill?
- No, you're right to question it. A good designer like you can eke all the good impression you need from card.detritus

The first 2 are a couple of the best printers in Amsterdam, lot's of artist books etc, they are a bit slow to react, but do amazing work...
The term in Dutch is – “druk op snee” and best send them the image you posted in this thread...
