The Corbis Calgary location is seeking an Industrial/Graphic Designer to join the in-house creative team to support Corbis and Veer marketing campaigns, and to manage and design Veer merch. Becoming a member of Corbis and Veer's award-winning design team begins with a submission of your resume and portfolio (PDF). We are looking for creative and innovative individuals with 4 or more years of experience in either industrial design or graphic design. The ideal candidate will have an educational background in either area, possess an impressive portfolio, and demonstrate an understanding of the Corbis and Veer brands.
Deadline for applications for this position is March 5, 2010.
Responsibilities:
Contribute to the creation of award-winning online and offline experiences that meet brand goals and objectives, and increase sales
Work with a team of designers, copywriters and developers to support the Corbis, Veer and GreenLight worldwide marketing strategies
Manage, curate and design Corbis and Veer merchandise, gifts and products from concept to sourcing to production
Understand the commercial context in which the designs will live
Possess an interest in and awareness of the possibilities of HTML, Flash, QuickTime, fabric, wood, metal and other rich and physical media
Manage internal and external resources, workflow and partners from product conception to launch
Liaise with various internal departments during new product launches
Qualifications:
· Degree in fine art or design
· At least 4 years in a highly creative design environment, with consumer branding/packaging design experience. Experience with product design a plus
· Experience with working on projects from concept through to completion within the context of a team
· Experience working with brand guidelines
· Inspirational and articulate presenter
· Proficient in major design applications, including Photoshop and Illustrator, and a comprehensive understanding of interactivity and the web and web applications including Flash, After Effects, QuickTime, and Director. Knowledge of 3D modeling software, Autocad and manufacturing processes a plus
· Solid graphic design and layout acumen. Able to identify the best conduit for presenting and delivering graphic material in support of business needs/initiatives. Use strong creativity and good judgement to tailor design methods to specific needs and objectives, including budget considerations
