I lived with a Brit for a little over a year (yes, I've been to the UK as well), and to say that we (Americans) are the ones that have bastardized the language is laughable at best. Both sides of the pond have contributed their fair share of abominations to this Frankenstein of a language.

I'm actually amazed that the US hasn't changed it to 'American' by now and still actually calls it English. Considering that 1) how completely patriotic you all are and 2) you've bastardised it so much its a mystery to me that its still called English!

I suppose it is a choice from English (UK) or English (US), a bit like the type of english u talk....Ex: A geezer in englisk UK is different from a geezer in english US.
