the news is rubbish. I suggest reading instead, it's more difficult to communicate panic through text.

Paedophiles, swine flu, bird flu, knifes, hoodys, guns, drink drivers, drugs, gangs, muslims, SARS, burkhas etc etc etc etc etc
So tired of it all.

Why not take your mind off it all, forget about the knifes, hoodys, guns, drink drivers, drugs, gangs etc and just play grand theft auto or something.

Depressive realism
-
Depressive realism is the proposition that people with depression have a more accurate perception of reality, specifically that they are less affected by the positive illusions of illusory superiority, the illusion of control and optimism bias. It must be understood that this refers specifically to people with borderline or moderate depression — while normal people see things in too positive a light and severely depressed people see things in too negative a light, the "grey" area in between leads to the most accurate perceptions of reality.

Do you all actually believe that there is no chance at all of someone trying to blow something up?
It's not like it didn't happen last time, and I'm pretty sure it will happen again.

your chance of being killed by terrorism is about 1 in a billion. Youll be murdered 10,000 times before you get killed by al qaeda.
- I know, which is why I find it so irritating.Jimbo82
- statistically. But al qaeda hate me and my freedomflashbender

Interesting statement put out by Rupert Murdoch's son-in-law - “I am by no means alone within the family or the company in being ashamed and sickened by Roger Ailes’s horrendous and sustained disregard of the journalistic standards that News Corporation, its founder and every other global media business aspires to,” said Matthew Freud, who is married to Ms. Murdoch and whom PR Week magazine says is the most influential public relations executive in London.
Many believe that the statement was approved by the Murdoch family and Rupert in particular. Although Ruper Murdoch publicly backs Ailes and love the profits he generates, it's pretty clear that the family don't like the general direction Fox is heading in.
- Does that make you more sympathetic of Murdoch though? It makes me dislike him even more.lukus_W
- BusterBoy0
@ lukus_W Not sure. I've always respected the bloke - not so much some of his publications. He has a fiduciary responsibility to his shareholders so would be very difficult to sack him when he is delivering such good returns for the shareholders so he would have to use means such as this to make a point. It's a subtle way of undermining Ailes to a point where he could have cause to fire him.
- Yeah, maybe you're right - but I think journalists have a huge responsibility - those in charge even more so .. the buck has to stop somewhere.lukus_W
- top somewhere.lukus_W
- Making a statement that shows personal distaste is all very well, but - if it doesn't change anything, the only effect is personal vindication.lukus_W

The scary thing is not that we are about to die, horribly or otherwise. People are living longer en mass. There are going to be more old people than ever before.
The scary thing is that we will not die horribly for ages. Horribly isn't getting eaten alive or shredded by a nail bomb, horribly is senile dementia in a home staffed by fat 40something gerontophiliacs, who spend all day bumming us and selling our drugs. It's the Colostomy bags and false teeth sold to us by nubile and unatainable youth, its the rancid bingo halls and McCafe lunches, the lost memories and having to put up with you mates telling you that joke for the 2000th time.
Fuck me Al Queda, bring it.

I hear Al Jazeera are pretty good for not blowing things out of proportion.
