You can't really compare U.S. and China censorship policies though and pretend they're just as bad. Sure the U.S gov does bad things, keeps stuff classified, but there is a well-established tradition of free speech here as in most Western nations.

and today Baidu's stocks went up 12%...

We also cannot compare censorship policies and pretend that everything is good. You can say many things in China just like in America, but there are also certain things that if said will get you into trouble in both places.
Our well established free speech was for particular individuals up to a certain point. Not until 1969 were barriers even opened up to places such as china. So we are talking only 40 years (though that seems a lot now).
We only care that we want to serve their citizens, (either to make money, create global unity) but in order to do so we have to abide by laws that we find ridiculous, which would entail the security of public information.

where was it proved that the hacking was the Chinese government?
- ********0
Probably none. I think there is an international publicity stunt on googles side. They can only know and say that their customer's email accounts have been hacked by someone in china

china.cn is the Google killer, it has a free mail service and everything

yesterday... "hilarious hacking of the day: Baidu's taiwan site, baidu.tw, was hacked to show google.tw instead. Right now, The baidu.tw URL just turns up an empty page. Aw, that was fun while it lasted."

That's actually interesting. When you go to any website in the world, you have the ability to filter/ turn off porn results. Google however does not do this. Wouldn't this be a great feature to have, especially a tool used not by adults but by kids at their schools.... Google is placed inside the browser and used in institutions and educational systems. Stopping porn is a valid need for the Chinese.
However, this would and could hurt Google's businesses if they filtered porn results. The advertising revenue would decrease and it would allow other search companies to dominate.

If you think about it, China is probably very correct in wanting to look at the positive side of things when concerning their country. With the largest population in the world. Google will hugely benefit through porn results and advertising revenue.
In which case what will happen is China can be known for being the country that watches the most porn in comparison other countries based on statistics. Meanwhile Google prospers with only their own intentions in mind.
- are you serious?********
- I'm guessing you're ok with the fact that our world is run by many people who profit from pornography.********
