looking for or know anyone/where that needs an intern? I am a year out of school, so it wouldn't have to be for credit. Willing to work for free, although some money would be awesome. I am available to work full-time as well. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Welcome to the land of neverending rain and gloom

Well thank you. I don't really mind it too much, so far. This summer was awesome, a lot less humid than NC was.

That's weird, I also moved here via NC.

Better than Oklahoma.

Do you have a portfolio? there are a bunch of agencies in the Seattle area who source for Microsoft, Google, T-Mobile, and others. Perhaps try for a real job versus internship. Contract job.
Last summer it reached 104... setting new records. Maybe not as humid, but hot. Hopefully this summer will be more mild.

I do indeed have a portfolio, in PDF form. I have tried the whole real job search, but I get the we don't have any positions but will keep you in mind, or get beaten out by someone with more experience. Thats why I was thinking intern, and work my way into employment.
As for contract jobs do you have any advice as to scoring something like that? Like I said I just moved here and know absolutely no one except for a few family members. Thanks for the advice.Yeah those few days it was hot was crazy. But I did love all the sunshine.

What kind of design do you do? Graphic? Industrial? Interaction? What kind of work do you want to do? Are you brandnew to QBN?

I am a graphic designer... should have said that, sorry. I prefer print/branding, but want to try and get into web. Recently took an HTML/CSS class at SVC to get the ball moving.
As for being new to QBN, not really. Lurked for a while, but just started posting.

is it still sleepless there?

Since you do print, you should see if http://www.invisiblecreature.com… need an intern. A guy I worked with a few years back interned there and had a great time. Plus, the work they do is insanely great.

in the states, how to you live as an unpaid intern? do you get student loans or similar? we don't really have that setup here in oz and it's always made me wonder. although not enough to get off my lazy arse and find out before now obviously.

well luckily I have family members spread across the states who would be more than happy to put me up. But I know some people who have unpaid internships and have a part-time job as well.
