How would you make this world better? What are some problems that we need to solve (whether huge or small, local or global). What would it take to solve these problems?

in the area of design - I would make "design" education relevant to our current and future contexts e.g. the current challenges facing people and business e.g. scarce resources, poverty, poor access to healthcare, pollution, climate change). Designers will be working with social scientists, medical students, geographers, artists, drop outs and freaks.
This would mean that instead of having lots of design schools churning out countless drones to act as "creatives" for the purpose of propping current paradigms, making more shit we don't need and don't want and generally making a small number of people rich at the expense of the many we would have design thinking schools that give people the right skills, mindset and strategic vision to actually do something purposeful and beneficial.
designers should be co-developing new visions for the future, co-creating real solutions, being social entrepreneurs and challenging the "buy more shit or we're fucked" mantra of the the bullshit now.

dunno, but right now i'm working on trying to spend disney's money to provide clean drinking water for children in poor countries
around 4,000 kids die every day from drinking dirty water– more deaths than hiv/aids and malaria combined
- considering the population explosion it's probably a good thing. for our quality of life i mean.airey
- just think, if they didn't die we'd have to share stuff and resources with them.airey
- i hope you shit yourself to death, airey. kids in africa have nothing to do with your resourcesscarabin
- unfortunatelyscarabin
- i'll send them an old stapler i don't use anymore. you got an address?airey
- you're such a badassscarabin
- really? why?airey
- the day airey will realize that all the ressources he gloats over comes from so called poor country he will kill himself, I hopeGeorgesII

I guarantee you this is the exact phrasing on 98% of private high school applications and 65% of college applications.
My opinion: let those with the capacity to help globally and let those who do not help locally. Take a homeless man in for some time and find him a job. Offer to buy meals for a struggling single mother. Let your charity be free with your imagination.
