i got this one for 500 bucks, and it has a clearer, more defined picture than most bigger name brands that cost 2 and 3 times that amount

Uhhhh...wait until you can spend more. Seriously. No point in getting a sub-par branded television that isn't as big as you'd like. In your price range you'd really just get a glorified computer display.

I just got one of these...
Samsung - 32" Class / 720p / 60Hz / LCD HDTV

I bought a Vizio, the low end HD TV's. It's good, it was cheaper, but thus far on my third TV from repairs (1st TV went dead after a year, they brought a refurb TV that only sort of worked, and finally this one, which has been going for about a year).
When I buy another TV I'll spend money and get something with a better quality image.

options to look for are connections to your devices
a 32 lcd will be small in the back and only have 1 rca ,1 component , some have vga or dvi to connect to a computer some don't
brands well , Vizio imho is a pos
- lcd is already obsolete btwBattleAxe
- plasma is also obsolete. better off with lcd for now.dirtydesign

get something local on craigslist, lots of laid-off people desperate to unload in this bad economic climate

400-500 on a tv? you must not watch it much, why does it even matter? maybe a 32" flatscreen?
