i would like it to get to the point where i can intuitively design on a 20in tablet on my desk. if they figured out an anti fingerprint surface.
i would be great to be ableto just get rid or all that peripheral hardware crap. and just work ON the screen.
but just having a bigger iPhone is pretty shyte..
figure out how to smash a quad core g5 into it without it blowing up and still being light enough to be able to whack it in the bag - and then we're talking.
by the way - if you use a kindle on the tube instead of a real book. i feel obliged to cock slap you in public.

to reword my scrooge like comment above, here's an analogy.
what's more important, a tv or the tv shows on it. is a 90 inch lcd hd tv better than a shitbox if all you can get is basic free-to-air?
the tablet / slate will come and the new version of it will appear within 2 years and on and on.
the new forms of content that will come from this excite me but a computer is a computer.
apologies for naysaying people like janne76 that are excited by the device in and of itself, that's groovy. i've just never understood the excitement over the perpetual engine that is the computer. i literally did a computer course in 'logo' when i was 10 or so and used a commodore 64 as enter-fucking-so-called-tainment so these steps forward kind of seem standard.
unless you're over 30 you can't imagine how much i enjor modern warfare 2 on the 360 compared to the god damned commodore64 gaming days.

ebook reading, music mixing, games, HD video etc. Without keyboard etc. Probably multitasking as opposed to iphone. No mouse, no cursor. Fast and easy use. Especially on the couch and while travelling.

what the fuck would this thing actually be useful for? like, to me, it seems like a macbook with less of a purpose.

Gentleman, true... I am assuming the front will be glass only. On/off button on side and no need for speaker on front (ear). It may have very thin slots for usb, or maybe mini-usb. Keyboard bigger on screen. Multiple finger touch. Etc.

wow. a new computer of some kind. whoopee.
countdown to depression for ubernerds when people realise they'll be viewing the same old content, just with a newer toy.
get. some. fucking. perspective.
- isn't this a design site? apple have some A+ interface and industrial design going on...inteliboy
- sure do, but this clamour to what's ostensibly simply a new computer blows my mind.airey
- when all that we'll use it on is the same old content.airey
- i guess i'm more excited by what new forms of content this kind of thing might lead to >airey
- than some device that will be replaced by the newer version is less than 2 years.airey
- then again, what do i know. i played on a commodore64 as a kid so i expect this growth as standard.airey
- also, won't the interface and industrial design be based on teh standard apple look of now?airey
- I'm pretty sure the non-idiots feel the same way. The IKEA demo might have been fake, but gave me new UI/UX wet dreams...dMullins

i love how little forward thinking there is in these concepts :P
they all look like existing apple product but stretched.
no wonder people drop jaws when apple comes out with something a bit different. everyone is looking at a bigger version of the present and calling it the future.
surely the tablet thing will look a million miles away from what Apple have now.
when you think about it, when the iphone came out it looked nothing like the iPod (until the iTouch came out), when the G5 came out it looked nothing like the rest of the suite..
the point is that it loks different. but i wouldnt be surprised if they didnt actually release a shyte tablet thing.. and jumped over a couple of paradigms and really fucked with everyones minds with some minority report hologram shit ;P
