Man,
I'm not bothered about having to work up to the 23rd and having to travel home on the 24th of December.
Thats all fine, what pisses me off is a touch of snow lands and london grinds to a halt.It took me 4 hours to get home and as a result Im miserable and sick at home with a cold.
</bahhumbug>I wish everyone better fortune!

with regards to the trains and the chunnel ... apparently it's not the companies who are to blame, seemingly it's "the wrong type of snow".
wtf?!
Did anyone else hear this excuse from the chunnel company?

2.5 hours last night... normally 45 mins. Nice to see we had the usual prep on the roads... no salt, no grit... crap!

I hear the fares are increasing in January. I think we should claim compensation each time a station is closed or when train lines get suspended. It's a rotten system that hasn't seen much improvement for decades.
Does this happen in other countries?

The total length of traffic jams in Moscow reached 1,700 kilometers.

I was in the car with my gf last night and I didn't realise how little snow it takes to stop a small car like hers. I had to push it over the last few hills to my house. There were several breakdowns on route where others had just canned the engine trying.

to be fair I'm usually really really impressed that London manages to maintain and run the transport system its got, considering the sheer size of it. The snow thing is terrible though - its like they don't even really care; its more economically viable to lose a few days and cause some inconvenience than it is to send gritters out.
I just hope they get it together enough to allow my train to reach my plane and in turn take me back up to where we get real weather

let's face it, britain just isn't prepared for snow. No one has heard of tyre chains, transport just can't run, and all the people walk out in a jumper and wonder why the have the sniffles. This is cos it only happens once or twice a year and it's not worth spending hundreds of millions on trains that can handle the snow.
What pisses me of is that soon we'll be paying as though the trains were frikkin 5 star 4x4 limo's but it's going into the big bosses gambling habit

I heard about friends having 3 hours journey's home. I went to the pub after work, left at 8 and my journey home was perfect, it was all sorted out by then.
Wish is would either properly snow and stop everything dead, or just not. This half arsed weather is pissing me off now. Give me a day off work where I can go sledging or just shut it±
