anyone know if this is possible, or at least a workaround? Just like the animation palette that allows you to match the position of layers across frames, it would be nice across Layer Comps as well.
ideas?

Can't you just select the layer comp and click the refresh button on the palette?
- artbum0
that would change everything in that comp. if i need a global change to one element like a menu box, to be moved and styled differently, I need that to apply to all layer comps, while keeping the rest of the elements different on each comp.

bump, i've been trying to look for a solution for this for a while now.

well, if you don't check the position box when you create the comp, moving/altering layers be reflected in every comp. Not sure if that would solve your problem though.

off topic i know, but have you ever noticed that smart objects aren't all that smart?
- yeah, they are fucking annoying. but apparently are better in cs4...which i don't have yet.lvl_13
- cs3 for me :(version3
- can't lock mask to smart object? really? i mean what the fuck.lvl_13
- You can just do more to them.ninjasavant
- that is fixed in 4, but still it's just annoying.lvl_13

^I had a conversation with one of the senior pshop devs for smart objects about how smart objects were intrusive, obnoxious, and not worth the annoyance for the value they provide. I suggested that it wouldn't really be at all useful until they figured out how to do whatever it is they do to make smart layers 'smart' and just do that to every layer without killing performance and involving the user.

bloody hell. maybe i should just be using freaking animation frames (the old kind) just for the Match Layers Across Frames feature.
It would work just like Layer Comps, right? See any apparent difference? Layer Comps are pretty-much a ripoff of the animation frames. They even have the same 3 choices: Match Layer Position, Layer Visibility, Layer Style. But it's missing the Match Layer Across Frames for when you move or change a layer later in the work flow.
