small quibble with that article - the example they chose for "Pack an SLR Into a Pocket Cam" is actually the worst digital camera I've ever owned. growth + innovation = suck, in the case of the sigma dp1.

Interesting read, but his whole "Kind of Blue" argument is totally wrong. While its true that it was composed without chords, it was composed that way because jazz musicians were sick of using chords specifically because of their limitations, not the opposite as implied...

Kind of Blue may have been conceived without chords, but that's because Miles simply walked into the recording studio and hummed a melody. A few minutes later they slapped on two chords and history was made. Without chords (aka limitations/constraints) the melody would have no place to live and the improvisation wouldn't quite work. I agree, fresnobob, that argument not only fails to back up their point, it actually negates it.
