Original.
awarded and celebrated rip off.
I think it just says alot ether the American public. orrr... the people who think they know what the American public want.
- I watched infernal affairs first and still think it was better. But when they accepted the award they congradulated Lau and share stories on writting the script. Thats the best you get in america..a pat on the backIronmonkey

I'm no apologist for studios screwing with good material, but it's not like this is new. "Point of No Return," "Vanilla Sky" (which I actually like), and "City of Angels" are all remakes of overseas films. From the studio's perspective and the development costs it saves, it's a no brainer.
That said, this still sucks.

Original master peace ( that dose not requre an understanding of spanish to enjoy it since there is about 12 lines of dialogue in the whole film)

i feel bad for the writers who sell their script to a studio and then see this shit happen, it would piss the crap outta me. id imagine , once a studio owns the script, they own it and the writer doesnt get much for the remake? i may be wrong and maybe the writers are dancing for joy after gettin a hollywood cheque but where is the integeraty man?
man my spellin
- Not if your agent negotiated the back end deal correctly. You'd make millions.harlequino

The original: only white people have watched it.
The remake: only black people will watch it.So it's totally original the second time around!

Anything know anything about World history? Bad times Hollywood. oh ye add a bit of Das Boot in there for good measure. Academy award anyone?
True story
the HMS Bulldog a British navy ship defied orders to sink all U-boats and boarded U-110 and subsequently found the enigma machine and won the war.

Why does making another vig off your script for a remake = no integrity? So only one audience or one market share consuming a product based on your material is more honest than having the chance to expand it, and earn more after many years of hard work no one in the business even talking to you without some sort of in?
Seriously, I think people look at movies and other entertainment as some sort of weird sacred rite. Yes it's creative, and yes it's art (sometimes), but it's a business too. Think of movies as product, as studios and (wait for it....wait for it...) many moviemakers do, and you'll see it differently.- sure something like "twighlight" is a product, when it comes to good movies i see them as a creative thing that shouldnt be sold out.********
- What do you mean by "sold out?" It's a business. Hey, I hate shit movies as much as the next guy. But I want to make money.harlequino
- thats right, cinema in america is not art, its business********

the oceans movies by soderbergh was a remake initially too people
and the jackal and and and and and...
what's the point?

come on, it does not have to be a rip, often it is so clear there has been made a deal about borrowing/reinterpreting an original version that got either dated or deserves to be put in the spotlights again for a broader audience.
don't be so hysteric about it if one doesn't know the details.
- fuckinglol_prophet0
no hysterics here...
'rip-off' is usually not an apt phrase...
'mediocre remake' is usually more fitting.
